🌟 Addressing the Houselessness Crisis Together 🌟

The crisis of houselessness affects us all—whether through personal experiences, humanitarian efforts, or the challenges faced by our community members. As we strive to address this issue, we must remember: we want to eliminate houselessness, not the individuals experiencing it. Our neighbors are facing increasing hardships, including arrests and displacement influenced by recent Supreme Court decisions.

Join the Conversation on Solutions!

We invite you to participate in a discussion focused on solutions. Hear from:

  • Individuals with lived experience of houselessness

  • Service providers sharing insights on current challenges and future plans

  • Volunteers actively supporting our community

  • Humboldt residents discussing the history of the housing crisis and its impact

We’ll also explore how the upcoming election may affect housing policies in California and locally for those without homes.

Together, let’s work towards meaningful change!

Remembering AHHA’s Volunteer and Donor 10 Year Celebration

In Loving Memory

We remember our dedicated volunteer, Hollie Klingel, who passed away on September 9th. Hollie tirelessly advocated for unsheltered community members and leaves behind a powerful legacy. She will be greatly missed and not having her is a great loss to our community.

Hollie’s speech to the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors which overcame their resistance to the Declaration of a Shelter Crisis.

"I know that you all are people of goodwill.  And I know that we have a difficult problem to solve. ------Now we've got fear out there.   We've got missing people out there. I cannot drive from my apartment on Wabash downtown without seeing things that make me want to cry. We are all in this together.  If we're going to base our economy on cannabis recreational or medical and ecotourism and art festivals and music festivals, then we've got to clean up our city.   And the way to do that is to find places for people to be safe, warm, and dry.   Thank you."

Join Our Board!

We’re looking for three new board members by November 31, 2024. If you have experience with homelessness we’d love for you to apply. If you have experience in finance, real estate, construction, government, housing, or mental health, we’d also love for you to apply! Your expertise can help us shape our Tiny House Village initiatives. Contact our office directly @707-298-1466 or Apply Here.

Let’s Talk Advocacy

We’re gearing up for a community response to the recent Johnson vs. Grants Pass ruling, which poses challenges for unhoused individuals. We stand with the Western Regional Advocacy Project in opposing Governor Newsom’s recent executive order. Together, we can advocate for compassionate solutions!

Volunteer Opportunities

We need Care-A-Van volunteers to help with our shower services through 2024 and beyond (new shower schedule finalized through the end of 2024 - see last page below). If you know someone who can lend a hand, send them our way!
👉 Volunteer Sign-Up

We’re also in need of clothing, hygiene items, and outdoor gear. Every donation counts and can be dropped off at our events or our office at the Labor Temple in Eureka.

Thank you for your unwavering support! Together, we’re making a difference in our community.

💙 With gratitude,
The AHHA Team
